About Our Organization

Administration

The Utah State University Facilities Department is led by an Associate Vice President, who is responsible for creating an environment where all can learn and grow and contribute at their full potential. This is true not only of the Facilities workers themselves but also of the faculty and students striving to teach and learn all across campus. In fact, though he heads numerous campus services, the Associate Vice President sees the creation of a positive learning environment as his biggest responsibility.

In addition to a Staff Assistant and a Human Resources Specialist, the Associate Vice President directly oversees the efforts of five directors:

  • The Business Services Director takes care of all financial matters in the department and also oversees a few campus services, such as recycling, surplus sales, and the motor pool.
  • The Facilities Operations Director sees to it that all buildings and systems are functioning as they should be; he is in charge of all energy systems and automated controls (temperature, for example) as well as all crafts and trades (plumbing, electricity, upholstery, etc.).
  • The Director of Maintenance manages three major areas –- Custodial Maintenance, Landscape Operation and Maintenance (or LOAM), and Event Scheduling and Moving.
  • The Director of Planning specializes in looking ahead to plan capital and in-house development and improvement.
  • The Director of Design and Construction is in charge of carrying out the design and construction projects scheduled by the Director of Planning.
